Day 25: Buddy

Among one of my favorite genres, historical fiction gives contemporary readers a sense of what it was like to live in the past. Reading about the past, memorizing dates and places doesn’t get people {students} excited to learn — it’s hearing people’s stories, points of view, protagonists we can relate to — this is the power of passion-led education through living books. Wonder why I home educate my children? There are many, many reasons, but I want them to be as curious about the world as I am – always keep learning.

And we were both born in Detroit only a couple of decades apart. . .

I hope my sketch does honor to the spirit of the story this amazing author penned. I am not a trained artist and find people particularly difficult, but satisfying, to draw.

Progress, not perfection.

Ink it up.
