We love the seagulls! As transplants to Seattle, we quickly found one of our favorite spots was on the Seattle waterfront.
At a restaurant called Ivars, where feeding the seagulls has been encouraged for as long as the place has been in business. Out of town guests love the novelty of the experience year-round.
While I never otherwise suggest feeding wild animals, particularly birds who poop everywhere, these guys have been raised for generations on handouts. Please obey all local ordinances and laws in your area – it protects the birds and the other wildlife!
Without further ado, here is my story…
Feed the Birds: Seagulls
Tucked between the Ivar’s Acres of Clams and Ivars Fish Bar, the Seagulls come to a tourist feast.
And locals.
We love to go to the waterfront and enjoy a nice dinner at Ivar’s Acres of Clams – but the fries and dinner rolls are saved just to feed seagulls who hungrily await our return. Diving expertly, and never stooping to eating from hand, these beauties learn to catch thrown food in the air so well that nary a fry thrown up correctly ever eludes them.
But we always save a few for the fledglings in the water.
So Seattle.

However, my boys think of it differently now that they’ve found Bad Lip Reading! I’d be remiss if I didn’t regale you with the song my boys relate to this activity: Seagulls! (Stop It Now): A Bad Lip Reading of Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back – Enjoy!
