LOVED IT: Star Wars, The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rated: PG-13

Opened: December 15, 2017

My Rating: 10/10

So many parallels on the issues we are dealing with currently in our society, this movie has all the bells and whistles, the twists and turns in plot and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat.

We get to know the true power of The Force, why Luke is where Rey finds him at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, what happens to Finn, Kylo, Chewbacca, Leia, and many more of our favorite characters — not to mention how the balance of The Force is shifted. As always, the story is not only action-packed, with great special effects to stretch the imagination of the viewer, but the characters are so richly developed we feel as if we know them, we understand them, we feel the struggles they feel.

It must be said, my Star Wars fandom began when Star Wars {now called A New Hope, Episode IV} was released. We went to see it on the big screen: the Drive In. With homemade popcorn in a large grocery sack, we camped out in our conversion van and witnessed the awe and wonder of what The Force is and who these people {and creatures!} are.

40 years later — I’m still enraptured

Without any spoilers, it was wonderful! I literally laughed, I cried, I was left agasp and thrilled. While I’ll need to see it a few more times to catch all the subtleties, and I wasn’t overjoyed with a few of the character choices, the overall story supports the spiraled world of the Star Wars Episodes:

the balance of the force, between the light and the dark

I can’t wait to see it again!
