First Class

First Class

Peering out the window, I overheard the flight attendant ask the man sitting next to me, “Sir? Sir?”

As I turned my face towards him, his head fell over onto mine. Cold, lifeless, his tongue lolled out rougishly.

The flight attendant froze. Though I’m sure he’d been coached on what to do when they lost a passenger mid-flight, having just shaken a dead man was not still not registering to him.

“Excuse me,” I said as I pushed his slumped head back onto his chest, “but it appears my seatmate has expired.”

At least he got to fly First Class.
