Hey DJ

I hadn’t even planned to go out tonight, but the girls were tired of me making excuses. ‘We’re going out to dance and you have to go with us this time!’

When I’d rather be home reading and relaxing, I succumbed to the call for one night out. Dinner, drinks, dancing. ‘We won’t be out late,’ they promised. With a whole weekend spread out before me, I decided I could wait a few hours until retreating to my book for the weekend.

After dinner and drinks, we strode onto the dancefloor….

‘Hey D.J. keep playing that song, all night’

  1. Nothing like going out dancing with friends! Although I’ll admit that I actually stayed home this weekend from a salsa dance party with a live Cuban band — that’s how deeply I was in the “writing zone” all weekend. I did get to 30K for NaNo by day 6. 😉 But wow, now you’re making me miss the dance party!

    1. So yay and …. well, yay! I’m so happy for you that you’ve already written so much for NaNoWriMo! It’s so exciting to get so far on your book, but even more so during the first week!! Congratulations 🙂 But ‘yay’ I made you miss the dance party you missed — it means my writing may be a bit persuasive 😉 Thank you for the enormous compliment!! Thank you for stopping by!

      1. Yes, your writing definitely took me to that happy dancing place in my mind!

I was very motivated to frontload on NaNo word count because I knew that I have ten days in the middle of the month (starting today) when I’ll have little to no time to write, including a work deadline and a five-day vacation with a friend. So I wanted to be sure I wouldn’t be horribly behind the ball when I got back, and could totally relax and focus on other things in the meantime.

      2. I totally agree and understand! I got deep into pre-writing over the past couple of months and am finding the words flowing like water onto the page. I don’t know if it’s a combination of planning and life experience, or more intention — it could be the beautiful journal I purchased this year to fill with my tome — but I’m cranking through and feeling great! Even my dreaded dry dialogue is taking shape 🙂 I look forward to seeing your progress — if you blog about it, I would be honored if you shared the link here so I don’t miss it! Enjoy your well-earned time off and vacation with your friend!
