‘To My Very Best Friend’

She was my first best friend outside my family. We were inseparable and dreamed of growing up and raising horses together.

My best childhood friend lost her battle to cancer today. She drew this for me when I moved away and we remained pen pals. For years, we poured our hearts out to one another on paper – writing horse stories, life stories, and many sketches and drawings.

While we grew apart as adults, she and her family have held a place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with her sweet sister.

Your light was too bright for mere mortals…..

  1. It hits hard doesn’t it when you lose a childhood friend….it makes you wonder how it is the universe works and why it chooses the paths it does for us. My sympathies with you at this time.

  2. I’m so sorry for your loss of one of your bestfriends. Life is not easy or fair at times I’m afraid.

Having attended a funeral myself this week for a Grandma figure, I recall the lines from the bulletin:

“She is dead she only sleeps” And I can’t help but think this applies to your friend too.
My condolenscences. I don’t know that I can do much so far a way, but if I can, please let me know.

    1. Documenting my own cancer recovery, though not in its’ entirety, but the closer I get to getting that ‘cancer-free’ stamp, the closer I am to moving beyond it ❤
