Naked Art

Naked Art

I hadn’t really given it much thought. Art installation? Everyone is given a cow to personalize. I’d done this before – back in Cincinnati with the pigs – but cows would be a much bigger canvas. On an international stage, my mind raced with the art I could create. The bold statements in my minimalist palette.

However, there was a catch – no more of the black and white, shades of grey, and a dab of red for accent. No. In this cosmopolitan city, electric colors were provided to suit the electric mood. We had only a few days to settle on designs, then we were asked to work on our creations in view of the public. On display, becoming art as much as the installations we were creating. I would be exposed as much as my art.

No more hiding.

  1. I remember seeing those crazy painted pigs in Cincinnati, too! Your story got me thinking about the nature of art and the confidence it takes to share that art in public. I still freak out a bit whenever I post things online or send a story off for consideration in a publication. I wonder if that ever goes away…

    1. I’m not sure. I like for people to like my stuff {creative outlets}, but I’m also okay with getting ho-hum replies. I am creative for myself – it’s just icing on the cake if anyone cares for it ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. That’s the attitude I wish I could have. I’ve slowly gotten better over the years, but I think I learned from family very early on that art wasn’t as worthy as “hard work.” That’s hard to shake. It’s amazing what lessons parents accidentally teach their children.
