Family Read Aloud: Eragon, by Christopher Paolini

We’ve had this on our to-read reading list for quite a while. After finishing The Martian, we began reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini. It’s been of interest to me because not only did he write the first draft as a 15-year old homeschooler, but he also initially self-published his book! He went on to write 3 more books in the series — The Inheritance Cycle.

So far, my boys are really enjoying it. Dad has decided to read this one again while I focus on other things – namely maintaining some sense of sanity during our construction. It’ll be wonderful when it’s finished, but we’re starting to feel a little cooped up! Having the time without many screens (okay, except for my husband and I on our computers and watching a couple of movies online!), we’ve really enjoyed having the down time together.

Living Lightly

Intentional Margin during this busy time of year. So if you were expecting a Christmas Card, yes — I usually send them out Thanksgiving Weekend, but they’ll be in the mail. Hopefully this week. Maybe next week. If not, know that you are loved, we’re thinking of you, and they may never make their way out of our home. Right now, in this moment, the most important thing for us to do is to focus on our family, God, and enjoying this season — of the year, of our lives — living in the moment.

What are you reading? Are Family Read Alouds moving to the top of your list?
